Tiny Pride is a Finalist in the Globe Awards

Tiny Pride, in partnership with Winters Consulting is proud to share that we have been selected as a finalist in the 2023 Globe Awards for our project Policing and the Rainbow Community.

As part of this project we ran a community forum that was focused on Community Safety and Belonging. A key element of that was how LGBTIQA+ community wants to work with police as well as how we keep each other safe and land people deeply into the protective factors through a sense of belonging.

We had participants and presenters from all over the state and dedicated conversations about:

  • Safety for transgender and gender diverse community members

  • Safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community

  • Family Violence

  • Keeping events safe

  • Connection and belonging.

We also talked about who our LLOs are and how we can report to police in ways that ensures information about what is happening to community from a safety perspective is reaching those who can take action.

The day used a variety of generative and human centered design approaches to prioritising all of the things that need to change in order for the LGBTIQA+ community in Ballarat to feel like a safer and more connected community.

We’re incredibly grateful to the City of Ballarat and Department of Justice and Community Safety for funding such an incredible community change project.

We’ve already begun implementing the things that our community has asked for, including our new protocol for debriefing community after major events.
